TWO Perth bands known for their high-energy live performances will kickstart the City of Joondalup’s Music in the Park series with a bang at Falkland Park in Kinross.

Bang Bang Betty and the H-Bombs and Peta Lee and The Vibrolators will open the annual concert series on January 13.

A dynamic five-piece, Bang Bang Betty and the H-Bombs is an act described as “a rock ‘n’ roll cocktail of atomic proportions”.

Joining forces with the sultry Peta Lee, The Vibrolators – known as “west-coast hipsters of jive, swing and rocking rhythms”– will take audiences on a musical journey back to the 1950s and 60s.

The second Music in the Park concert will be staged on March 3 at Penistone Park in Greenwood with the Milford Street Shakers and Murphy’s Lore taking on the music of The Beatles.

The Milford Street Shakers 12-piece will perform a tribute show with a twist, covering other musicians’ covers of classic Beatles hits, while Murphy’s Lore has put together a show featuring fan favourites including Something, Here Comes the Sun, Penny Lane and A Hard Day’s Night.

Free children’s activities will be held from 5pm at both concerts and guests can either bring a picnic or buy food from various food trucks.

The entertainment will run from 6pm to 8.30pm.

Next year’s concert series will only feature two events instead of the traditional three because of a live music event included in the City’s end of day celebration for the Queen’s Baton Relay at Whitfords Nodes Park in Hillarys on February 25.
