Craigie sexual assault: woman attacked while walking from Whitford train station

POLICE have reiterated the dangers of walking alone at night after a man sexually assaulted a young woman near Craigie Leisure Centre in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Sergeant Tom Cogan said the 23-year-old victim had left the train station and was walking along Whitfords Avenue when the offender approached her from the other direction.

“He grabbed her then threw her to the ground,” he said.

“He wrapped his hands around her throat and indecently assaulted her.”

The man fled with the victim’s handbag.

He was thought to be aged about 30 and 175cm to 180cm tall.

He had a slim build, facial hair and was wearing a red hat, black top and tracksuit pants.
