WOODVALE resident Mary Ventry-Smith has enjoyed 26 years of helping primary school children cross the road.

The North Woodvale Primary School crosswalk attendant has been working at the school since it opened.

“I have always loved being a crosswalk attendant as it is a great way to get out and spend time in the community.

All of the kids are always so lovely so it makes my job very easy,” she said “My three children all went to North Woodvale and once they left I decided to stay on as I really enjoy being a part of the school.

“Most of the drivers are quite pleasant, although I would like to see a decrease in speeding and distracted drivers.”

Kingsley MLA Andrea Mitchell thanked Mrs Ventry-Smith and wished her “many more years in this important role”.
