NEWLY-appointed architectural firm Iredale Pedersen Hook is drawing up designs for a performing arts centre at Belridge Secondary College.

A construction tender for the 250-seat centre is expected to be called in December, with building works due to start in April. The project is expected to be completed in April 2021.

Belridge principal Melesha Sands said the performing arts would be a vehicle for bringing schools and communities together.

“The new facility will become a quality venue available for use by the local community, especially local primary schools,” she said.

“This will enable more students in the Joondalup community to benefit from the project.”

Joondalup MLA Emily Hamilton said Belridge offered a superb specialist fashion design course and the new performing arts centre would provide the perfect location to showcase students’ skills.

“I know that the college community and our local community more broadly are excited for the new performing arts centre and the opportunities that it will provide students,” she said.
