“The home is reliant on the support and generosity of dog lovers and donations made through fundraising appeals, because we are a self-funded organisation,” president Karen Rhodes said.

“Our ‘In the Dog House’ fundraiser is crucial to our ongoing operation and to helping us to rescue, care for and re-home hundreds of abandoned dogs throughout the year.”

Any money raised will be matched dollar for dollar by the Perth-based Tate Family Foundation, which this year will support the fundraiser up to $25,000.

“There isn’t a better time for giving than Christmas and we hope to make the lives of the dogs just a little more comfortable while they wait for their forever home by matching up to $25,000 in donations raised by the generous volunteers like Ange,” Jarrad Tate said.

“We hope the event will raise awareness of the wonderful community service that the home provides and also encourage people to consider adopting one of the beautiful four legged residents currently at the home.”

Activities planned on the day include a ‘Santa paws’ opportunity for photos with Alex Cearns from Houndstooth Studio and merchandise for sale.
