Established in 1961, the fund provides help to people suffering personal hardship and distress following natural disasters occurring in WA.
Money raised from this fund will help those affected by the November bushfire that engulfed areas of the Shire of Esperance where four people died and many lost their property.
Mayor Troy Pickard said the fund gave “real dollars to real people”.

READ NOW“While a lot of other work might help to provide funds to a council that might need to reconstruct areas, this fund actually provides dollars to people who have lost homes or lost their possessions or need temporary accommodation,” he said.
Wanneroo councillors supported a motion by Cr Dot Newton to donate $5000 to support the Esperance bushfire victims at their December 8 council meeting.
