THE X marks the spot at Davallia Primary School’s library this week in celebration of Book Week.

Associate principal Denise Lynch said the annual event was “always an amazing week where students and staff all contribute to a wonderful time of talking, reading and discussing books”.

“The library is the hub of Book Week at Davallia, with library officer Elissa Baker transforming it into an amazing ‘find your treasure’ underwater display,” she said.

“Under her direction and innovation, every student has creatively contributed to this amazing aquatic world.”

Mrs Baker said the students loved going into the library to find their work on display and sharing it with their parents on open night before browsing the Book Fair.

“If this has encouraged the love of reading to just one more student, then it has been worth it,” she said.

The Duncraig school also hosted Book Buddy Wednesday where everyone went to school in their pyjamas and students read their favourite book to a buddy from another class.

“The love of books is alive and well at Davallia and Mrs Baker is certainly a treasure to behold,” Ms Lynch said.
