YOUNG adult readers are getting to chat with other booklovers each month in Joondalup.

Dymocks Joondalup launched its free Young Adult Book Club earlier this year to much success.

“We saw there were many keen readers visiting our store and we wanted to create a hub where booklovers could gather and share their love for books and stories,” employee Aisling Lawless said.

“We have a book of the month, which we encourage the clubbers to read before the event so they can join in our led discussion, but it is not compulsory to have read it to attend.

“We also talk about upcoming book releases, have a group chat about recent books we have all read and loved, have book quizzes with prizes, raffles, giveaways of advanced reading copies and have special discounts on the night for club members.”

Ms Lawless said the club welcomed readers of all ages and they could enjoy baked goods, snacks and jugs of iced tea from T2 Joondalup.

“We do also have young adult authors who attend at some sessions throughout the year to chat about their books, inspirations and advice for aspiring writers,” she said.

This Tuesday the club will meet fiction author Kate McCaffrey and next month Brendan Richie will attend.

The club runs on the first Tuesday of each month from 5.45pm to 7pm.
