EDITH Cowan University will fly the Pride flag from tomorrow morning to honour the victims of the Orlando shooting and to show solidarity with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community around the world.
It will fly in place of the university’s flag until the end of the week at its Joondalup, Mount Lawley and South West campuses.
ECU Vice-Chancellor Steve Chapman said ECU was committed to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive learning and working environment.
“Flying the Pride flag is one way we can signal to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and/or intersex community that ECU stands with them during this difficult time,” he said.
Perth will hold a candlelight vigil for the victims tomorrow, Wednesday, June 15 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm in the James Street Amphitheatre in the Perth Cultural Centre.
