Edgewater: Mater Dei College students promote reconciliation for Sorry Day

Laura PondJoondalup Times

The Year 12 hospitality pupils from Mater Dei College investigated traditional Aboriginal ingredients and fused these with classic Australian recipes to create lemon myrtle shortbread, wattleseed Anzac and quandong jam drop biscuits.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students represented the college class at a Sorry Day event in East Perth on May 26, where they raised $500 from selling boxes of the biscuits.

The money will be donated to Reconciliation WA and the Department of Aboriginal Affairs’ Partnership, Acceptance, Learning and Sharing program.
