THE State Government will hold a public consultation session on the proposed voluntary assisted dying legislation in Joondalup next week.

A ministerial expert panel will hold a session on the end-of-life law at HBF Arena on Kennedya Drive on Friday, April 12, from 10am to noon.

Other sessions are planned at The Rise Community Centre in Maylands on April 15 and Fiona Stanley Hospital in Murdoch on April 29.

The State Government has also invited feedback on a discussion paper via an online survey or written submissions via email or post.

Feedback on the paper will help to inform the panel’s final report and recommendations to Health Minister Roger Cook to develop legislation and ensure safe and compassionate processes for voluntary assisted dying.

“There is consistent and widespread community support for voluntary assisted dying reform,” he said.

“This is an emotive and important issue and a discussion – I encourage all Western Australians to take part in the consultation to ensure that the legislation is based on the available evidence and reflects the needs of all.”
