"Staff members as well as family and friends joined up."

As Mrs Hope began her road to recovery she saw first-hand the impact of cancer on family and friends.

"I think it has even more impact on them than it has on you," she said.

"My boys joined our relay team, and now they want to do what they can to fight cancer.

"I don't think people realise the support you need when you have cancer, or how supportive the WA Cancer Council is. I hope to start an exercise program devised by the council, which supports country people with treatment and accommodation."

The team has been fundraising with a dance night, by baking buns and with a ladies night. On October 10 the team hopes to raise more at its "Tamla Motown Night 70s Music". For more on this musical extravaganza call 0408 243 567 or 0434 054 858.
