In 2016, three smaller venues will replace the large circus tent of previous years – the Commonwealth Cube, The Great Place for children and The Gold Digger.
Outside, each venue will make a different architectural statement, while inside, they will host performance, storytelling and theatre shows to feed imaginations.
Festival organisers are also bringing forward the Sunday start time to noon and the fireworks to 7pm to make the event more appealing to families.

READ NOWThis year the theme is Oh, the Places You’ll Go, inspired by the Dr Seuss book and people will be encouraged to get creative in a “colourful upside down world”, according to a City of Joondalup statement.
The festival will include acts from the UK and Italy, a debut performance by Di Filippo Marionette, and the return of the Community Choral Project to perform A Hard Day’s Night, with musical direction by Jangoo Chapkhana.
The Twilight Lantern Parade will see more than 1500 people parade their creations on the Saturday night.
Mayor Troy Pickard said each year the Joondalup Festival brought more than 50,000 people to the area for two days of free family-friendly fun.
“Our city centre will again be transformed into a vibrant cultural hub of entertainment for all to enjoy and I particularly look forward to seeing the new layout of the festival site,” he said.
“For 17 years the Joondalup Festival has consistently delivered an outstanding range of exciting experiences and is one of the must-attend events of the summer.”
