A MOTORCYCLIST was allegedly fleeing police when he crashed into a car, slid along the road and attempted to run from the scene in Warwick.
Officers allege the 31-year-old Butler man did not stop for them after they witnessed him ride through a red light at the intersection of Warwick Road and Erindale Road about 8.55pm on Tuesday.
Police media spokesman Sam Dinnison said police would allege the man’s motorcycle narrowly missed a car after ignoring the red light.
He said the motorcycle rider later swerved to miss a vehicle on Dorchester Avenue before attempting to swerve past another one when he lost control and crashed into it.
“After falling from the motorcycle and sliding along the road, the rider attempted to run into nearby bushland,” he said.
But officers arrested him as he tried to climb a brick wall.
The man was treated in Royal Perth Hospital for injuries he received in the crash.
Police charged him with vehicle theft, reckless driving, driving without the appropriate motorcycle licence, possession of cannabis, possession of methamphetamine and possession of burglary implements.
In other local crime news, a 19-year-old Butler man was charged over a pursuit involving an allegedly stolen vehicle in Malaga on Tuesday.
He was charged with vehicle theft and traffic offences.
