FOSTER carers from Warwick to Two Rocks will be recognised for their efforts at an awards ceremony in Joondalup this week.

The Department for Child Protection and Family Support’s Joondalup branch is hosting the Foster Carer Awards on Thursday night as part of National Child Protection Week.

Held at the North Metropolitan Tafe in Joondalup, the awards celebrate the significant contribution families and carers in the northern suburbs make to children in care and the community.

Child Protection Minister Andrea Mitchell said the week provided an opportunity to highlight the role everyone could play to provide safe and caring environments for children.

“Protecting children is everyone’s responsibility, and we all need to take active steps to ensure children and families at risk or in crisis are supported,” she said.

The week also recognises the vital role foster carers play in helping vulnerable children thrive and prosper.
