The City of Joondalup ceremony was part of West Perth's international round, part of which was designed to attract the district's high proportion of residents with links to the UK.

Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard said the City was honoured the new Australians " from the UK, Canada, China, Croatia, Colombia, India, Iran, Philippines and Zimbabwe " "chose the City of Joondalup to live".

"This will be the first time you sing the national anthem as an Australian citizen," he said. New citizen Riley-Jay Williamson (5) was chosen to toss the coin for the game, which the Falcons won.
