Staff WriterJoondalup Times

GREENWOOD’S Zuchetti family will join thousands of animal lovers taking part in RSPCA’s Million Paws Walk events on May 21.

Sarah Zuchetti, her children Ava (5) and Seth (3) and their dog Bender will take part in the main WA event at Sir James Mitchell Park in South Perth.

It is the animal protection organisation’s annual fundraiser, and this year participants could also do ‘the million paws challenge’ by walking 250,000 steps in the month leading up to the event.

“The new challenge element is a fun and healthy way for animal lovers to get active, set a personal challenge and seek support from friends and family to sponsor them and fundraise for animals desperately in need across our state,” community engagement executive manager Maree Daniels said.

“Walking one million paws in thirty days might be a little ambitious for some but that is the point – it’s certainly not unachievable.”Participants at the Perth walk can choose from a 1km, 2.5km or 5km course.

The $30 registration fee helps cover the cost of running the event and surplus funds from fees, merchandise sales and online fundraising go to RSPCA WA programs.

There will be a doggy obstacle course to navigate and other activities include the Vetwest Pet Parade.
