Han’s Cafe in Joondalup unaffected by recent liquidation woes

THE Joondalup franchise of Hans Café is unaffected by the recent turmoil and liquidation of the Asian chain’s management company.

Owner Grace Rusti clarified her Grand Boulevard eatery was not one of the three restaurants, owned by company operator Tram Hoang Han, that had collapsed.

But the news did have a ripple effect.

“Of course, it’s bad publicity for us,” she said.

Ms Rusti’s outlet is one of 12 franchises that continue to operate in Perth.

The Federal Court last week found Mrs Han had underpaid staff by about $30,000 in 2014.

Mrs Han and several companies of which she was a sole director, were fined a combined $37,500.

The Fair Work Ombudsman alleged the underpayments would have been considerably greater but could not be proved because of the “woefully inadequately records” Mrs Han kept.

Mrs Han still earns about $20,000 a month in income from the 12 remaining franchises.
