Health forum to test pulse of local residents

THE health care needs of local residents in Joondalup and Wanneroo will be discussed at a forum on September 12.

Health Minister Roger Cook will join Joondalup MLA Emily Hamilton and Wanneroo MLA Sabine Winton for the forum at the Admiral Park Sporting Facility in Heathridge from 10am to 11.30am.

Mr Cook will be asked to discuss the proposed $161 million expansion of Joondalup Health Campus, which includes additional emergency department bays, inpatient beds, operating theatres, car parking bays and new mental health beds with works due to start in 2020.

With National Stroke Week from September 2-8, there will also be representatives from the Northern Suburbs Stroke Support Group and Stroke Foundation.

And with the WA Parliament considering voluntary assisted dying legislation, Dying with Dignity WA representatives will be available to talk with local residents and provide information.

There will also be the opportunity to sign a petition calling for additional palliative care beds at Joondalup Health Campus.
