He will spend about 15 hours on a treadmill set at maximum incline in a bid to raise money for Save the Children during its annual book sale on August 15 and 16 at UWAs Winthrop Hall.

Mr Hudson is nearly halfway through his attempt to climb the seven summits, the highest peak on each continent, by 2017 and raise $250,000 in the process.

He has already tackled mounts Kilimanjaro, Kosciuszko and Elbrus, with Everest being his final climb in two years time.

I wanted to do something locally for the project, bring the excitement to Perth so to speak, he said. As there is nothing here that even resembles a mountain, it meant getting creative.
