Sorrento Beachfront Cleaned For Summer

THE spires of ECU’s Chancellory are not the only jarrah structures oiled for maintenance in the northern suburbs.

In time for the summer holidays each year, Eddie Brown and his company Australia Wide Fencing Solutions oil the jarrah posts and clean the stainless steel of the fencing along the Sorrento beachfront for the City of Joondalup.

“We clean with everything from citric acid through to dishwashing liquid and then countless kitchen scouring pads to get it spot on. You’ve got to be environmentally friendly but manpower – your right arm – is what ends up doing it,” Mr Brown said.

“We put silicon over the stainless steel so it lasts for about another year and oil over the jarrah posts.”

He said the City of Joondalup was “really good to deal with; they like to keep everything schmick”.

He also praised the locals he and co-worker Max Doyle encountered over their 10-day job.

“We get so many people coming over with drinks and coffees thanking us,” Mr Brown said.

“There are great people in the whole area; we should say thank you to them for being so nice to us.

“We do a lot of contracts around Australia and this suburb beats the others hands down for nice, easygoing people.”
