ASHDALE Secondary College in Darch has been evacuated after a ‘security incident’ this morning.

A police spokesperson confirmed an incident at the school and said officers were in attendance.

Police said the school had put their emergency procedures into place and had evacuated the building while police investigate the nature of the threat.

The Department of Education urged Ashdale parents to keep children home from school and said those that had arrived would be supervised at Ashdale Primary School.

“School closed for the morning,” they said.

“Parents to keep children home if possible. If not, students will be supervised at Ashdale PS.”

Calls to Ashdale Secondary College at 9am were met with a recorded message urging callers to phone back between office hours, which were listed as 8am until 4pm.

The incident came as Year 12 students enter the second day of their ATAR (tertiary entrance) exams.
