JOONDALUP artist Fred Maris is opening his home next weekend for art lovers.
The retiree will have about 40 paintings on display and for sale in his home studio.
Mr Maris started painting four years ago using leftover acrylic paint.

“After using acrylics for a year I switched to oil paint, which resulted in painting being banned from the house because of the smell, so I built a very small ‘studio’ outside.”
“It is not easy for me to categorise my style as I flit from portrait, landscape, seascape and animals, each being a new challenge.”
He said it would be ideal for visitors interested in buying local artwork at reasonable prices or for people seeking a free art viewing.
