Hope is for more days out: Bethanie Warwick

Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

The Bethanie Warwick residents had coffee and cake at Nino’s Fish Bar and Café and walked around some of the shops before getting the bus home.

The afternoon trip was part of a trial of senior outings to encourage community engagement and social interaction between residents and provide an opportunity for seniors living in a higher level of aged care to be able to get out and do some of their favourite things.

Bethanie Warwick asked residents to choose places they would like to visit with Hillarys voted number one, closely followed by Bunnings Warehouse.

“It was a lovely sunny afternoon spent reminiscing about times spent at the beach and the changes at the boat harbour since they had been there last,” occupational therapist Mercedes Roberts said.

“We are hoping to continue to run these outings monthly and invite another six residents to Hillarys in September as everyone who went really enjoyed themselves and are already asking when is their turn to go on the bus again.”
