LOCAL apprentices and trainees have been recognised at the annual Hospitality Group Training (HGT) Awards.

Greenwood resident Zachery Tholen won most outstanding first year apprentice for his work at The Shorehouse and Hillarys Yacht Club staff member Sean Woolford won the most outstanding final year apprentice award.

HGT general manager Iain McDougall said the awards highlighted the importance of apprentice chefs in the workforce.

“HGT employs over 100 apprentices and trainees who are currently working in hospitality venues throughout Perth and regional WA,” he said.

“We want people to know that if they’re deciding on a career path or thinking about a sea change, hospitality is a great and rewarding career option”.
