At the meeting were 71 students and 14 teachers from Belridge Secondary, Greenwood, Lake Joondalup Baptist, Mater Dei and Sacred Heart colleges, St Mark’s Anglican Community, The Kingsley Montessori and Warwick Senior High schools and Belridge and Duncraig senior high school education support centres.

Questions covered topics such as vandalism and graffiti, security and CCTV, sports floodlighting, working with State and Federal government, coastal pollution and entertainment and events in the City.

Mater Dei College student Lauren Deasy asked if the council would consider an event similar to the ice rink in Fremantle.

Mayor Troy Pickard replied that he had met recently with promoters of an event exactly like that.

“The City has encouraged that with open arms,” Mr Pickard said.

“A decision hasn’t been made about an ice-specific event in the City of Joondalup but the relevant staff have a number of ideas that we’re providing some feedback on.

“Hopefully in due course, we’ll see some additional events and potentially an ice rink in our City centre.”
