THERE must be something in the water in the northern suburbs as four locals prepare to head to Queensland for the final of a national beauty pageant.

Disney Suarez, of Joondalup, and Ocean Reef’s Jessicah Ortin are among six WA women vying for the title of Miss Galaxy Australia on Saturday, April 1, while Sorrento 16-year-old Jacqui Vella and Mullaloo’s Tayla Howlett (15) will compete in the Miss Teen Galaxy category.

The teenagers are two of six girls selected to represent WA.

Jacqui said the selection had given her greater confidence and her goal was to advocate for domestic violence prevention.

“Being a part of this experience has only enhanced the need/want for me to get my voice out there about this topic,” she said.

“I’m very proud of the person I have become over the past year and I can’t wait to see what my future holds.”
