Joondalup Christmas Lunch organisers have a hunger to help

NOBODY should be spending Christmas Day alone, according to organisers of the Joondalup Christmas Lunch.

“Whether it be through financial hardship or simply not having any family and friends to celebrate the occasion with, December 25 can be one of the most difficult days of the year for many,” grants co-ordinator Margaret Fullelove said.

“It can be a day of loneliness and great sadness.

“That is why the members of the committee are encouraging anyone who would otherwise be spending Christmas Day alone to attend the 2017 Joondalup Christmas Lunch at Central Park .”

She said the traditional Christmas meal, organised by local churches and volunteers since 2008, had grown to become one of the biggest of its kind in Perth.

“This annual celebration gives people an opportunity to enjoy a delicious Christmas meal and make some new friends along the way, as well as show what a caring community looks like,” Mrs Fullelove said.

“This much-loved event occasion celebrates the joy, hope and love of the festive season.”

The free event will run from 11.30am to 2.30pm and includes a hot lunch with side salads and dessert, entertainment and Christmas carols.
