THE City of Joondalup’s first fenced dog exercise park is now open.

Located at Elcar Park in Joondalup, there are two separate exercise areas – one for large to medium-sized dogs and one for small dogs – and both with their own sandpit, drinking fountain and double-gate access.

Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob said given the park’s central location and easy accessibility, Elcar Park would become a popular destination for dog owners, and particularly residents living in the city centre.

“Our City is home to one of the largest dog populations per local government area in Australia and many dog owners in our City have been calling on this type of infrastructure for a number of years,” he said.

Eevee enjoys the new dog park in Joondalup.

“As well as the obvious benefits for dogs, exercise areas of this nature also encourage improved social contact and interaction between owners.”

The remainder of Elcar Park outside of the dog exercise area allows dogs on leads only.
