Announced on Monday, the award recognised a range of criteria including community engagement, positive social and cultural effects on the local community, effective communication and promotion of the event and its overall quality.

This year’s festival held on March 28 and 29 attracted about 50,000 people to the Joondalup city centre to see performances from local, national and international artists.

Themed Our Curious Landscape: Creatures and Plants from Over the Rainbow, events included the twilight lantern parade, stand-up comedian Peter Rowsthorn and illusionists Adam and Selina in the big top tent at Central Park, street circus acts from New York and Canada, the community choral project West End Wonder and fireworks and a fire show to close the festival.

In honour of the 10-year anniversary of the sister city relationship with the Jinan Municipal People’s Government in China, the City also invited acrobats from the Jinan Arts School to perform.
