THE latest artwork to be installed on the Joondalup Library has been designed so that no two interpretations are likely to be the same.

Dita E Hagedorn created the abstract piece Illusion by taking an original photographic image and manipulating it so it is no longer recognisable.

The colour palette she used is reflective of the vast sky that frames the library during daylight hours, while the level of white and silver will also ensure it is striking when backlit at night.

Hagedorn, whose artwork often focuses on the mundane, uninteresting or overlooked – seeks to capture beauty in everyday objects.

The artwork she produced for the City of Joondalup’s 2017 Community Art Exhibition struck a chord with independent industry judges, who recommended her for the commission.

Tabula Rasa, 2016 by Julian Tennant will appear at Joondalup Courthouse.

The Inside-Out Billboard will be installed on September 22, before the City’s annual Community Invitation Art Award at Lakeside Joondalup from October 14 to 28.

The billboard at Joondalup Courthouse will also change with the installation of Tabula Rasa, 2016 from local artist Julian Tennant.

The artwork has previously appeared as an Inside-Out Billboard commission at Joondalup Library.

Tennant’s work reflects his interest in how identity is influenced by culture and environment.
