Joondalup Library to host forum on WA’s surrogacy and human reproductive technology laws review

Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

NORTHERN suburbs residents can have their say on the review of WA’s surrogacy and human reproductive technology laws at a forum next month.

Earlier this year, the State Government announced an independent review of the issues of assisted reproductive technology and surrogacy legislation, specifically the Human Reproductive Technology Act 1991 and Surrogacy Act 2008.

In Australia, about one in six couples have difficulty in conceiving a baby and about 4 per cent of births in Australia occur through assisted reproductive technology.

The review will provide a strong foundation for updating the regulation of assisted reproductive technology and surrogacy and will bring WA in line with other states.
