Joondalup: man charged over bank robbery attempt

POLICE have charged a man who allegedly brandished a screwdriver and threw a bottle in a hold up at a Joondalup bank yesterday afternoon.

Investigators allege the 40-year-old Bentley man entered the Grand Boulevard premises about 3.35pm and demanded money.

He allegedly threw a bottle at one of the teller windows, causing it to crack.

He left the premises empty handed, before boarding a bus.

Officers arrested him on the bus a short time later.

He was charged with attempted armed robbery and is due to face Joondalup Magistrates Court today.
