JOONDALUP Magistrates Court has heard a young man was so drunk after a wine tour he did not recall assaulting a Transperth officer at Joondalup train station.

Magistrate Michelle Pontifex fined Connor Alex Bailey $1500 for the assault and $200 for obstructing an officer when he faced court on Friday, December 8.

Bailey pleaded guilty to the offences.

The Public Transport Authority prosecutor said Bailey pushed and kicked an officer in August about 3.50pm.

Bailey’s lawyer said he did not remember what happened and was concerned when he learned that was how he behaved.

“He’s shown quite a lot of remorse,” he said.

Ms Pontifex said public officers should not have to deal with such behaviour.

“They were doing their job and you were drunk,” she said.
