HAVING established in 1997, Joondalup Netball Association marked its 20th anniversary last year.

Past and present committee members, staff, life members, long-serving volunteers and special guests were invited to celebrate at a cocktail party at the Joondalup Resort.

All playing members of the association were also presented with a commemorative water bottle at the end of the winter competition.

“In 1997, Joondalup Netball Association played their first season at the Arena Joondalup on four courts that were used for tennis,” administration officer Vivian Iellamo said.

“It was anticipated that for the first season, the association may have about 10 teams registered but expectations were exceeded with 30 teams from various clubs registering for the winter season.

“In 2017, we had 156 teams registered for the winter season and we are now playing on 12 purpose-built netball courts at the Arena Joondalup.”
