Joondalup Primary School students inspire wall mural artwork

Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

A GROUP of Year 6 students will soon see their ideas transformed into the City of Joondalup’s latest public artwork.

Local artist Hayley Welsh recently held two workshops with the Joondalup Primary School students to get inspiration for a wall mural to be created at Nanika Park in Joondalup.

Students were asked to draw creatures reflective of their “intuitive little voices” during class workshops.

Welsh will now design a mural of positive messages based on the students’ ideas and words, working on the production during the Joondalup Festival from March 23 to 25.

The completed mural can be seen from April, with students receiving stickers of the final design.

The wall at Nanika Park will be graffiti-coated to preserve it and a plaque will credit Welsh and the students with the work.
