Dignitaries who laid wreaths at the Central Park war memorial included Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard, Wanneroo-Joondalup RSL president Wendy Tuffin, Moore MHR Ian Goodenough, Kingsley MLA Andrea Mitchell, Girrawheen MLA Margaret Quirk, Freemen of the City of Joondalup Nic Trandos and Bill Marwick and local scouts groups.

Guest speaker Major Joseph Holland spoke about the important legacy the Servicemen and women left behind for future generations, while the Reverend John Myles delivered the prayer and benediction.

Amber Reid sang the Australian and New Zealand national anthems and Major Ash Cogdon described what the Anzac troops encountered on the shores of Gallipoli on April 25, 1915.

There was also a Royal Australian Air Force fly past at 6.26am.

Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard said it was pleasing to see people of all ages and backgrounds in attendance.

“It was particularly good to see so many teenagers and young children in attendance, ensuring the sacrifice of so many will be remembered for generations to come,” he said.
