Transperth spokesman David Hynes said a signalling engineer finishing his shift nearby heard the reports and sought authorisation from the Train Control team to access the site and retrieve the kitten.

“He wasn’t expecting to find the cat alive when he got to the spot – by our employee’s estimation, around 12 trains went over the top of the little guy – but looks like he still had a few lives left in him,” he said.

“They took him to the vet where he was checked for a microchip and treated for an injured ear and paw.”

The stray kitten, named TC after the Train Control staff, is about four weeks old and has now found a home with a Transperth staff member and his family.
