Plea to make dad’s funeral after boating tragedy

THE children of a man tragically killed in a tragic boating accident at Hillarys on the weekend have issued an emotional plea to make it to WA for their father’s funeral.

In a Go Fund Me the children of Derek Jones, 44, asked for members of the public to help them get from Brisbane to Perth for the funeral.

Mr Jones was killed on Sunday morning after the dinghy he was in flipped.

His ex-partner launched the Go Fund Me to get his children Hayd’n, Curtis and Nikita to the funeral.

They have collected $2770 of their $3500 goal.

His current partner Jodi Jarrett has also started a Go Fund Me to raise money for his funeral.

“Thank you for all your support in this tragic time in everyones lives,” she wrote.

“He touched so many lives in his short period of time that he roamed this earth but everyone around him adored and loved him dearly.”

The funeral fund has reached $1899 of their $5000 goal.
