KINGSLEY bartender James Mason is heading to Sydney to take part in a national cocktail competition.

He was one of two West Australians selected from the state final to take on others from around the country at the Travelling Tales Cocktail Competition on June 13.

The competition is searching for the best original Southern Comfort-based cocktail inspired by a real story.

Each cocktail and the story behind it will be judged on its taste, presentation and originality. The winner will enjoy a trip to New Orleans for an international cocktail festival.

Mr Mason, who works at Ku De Ta in Perth, said it felt great to be recognised for his Berry Herbed creation.

“It has pushed me to learn more about bartending and has driven my passion to further my career within the industry,” he said.

“Travelling Tales has given me the opportunity to express myself and meet other industry professionals while also making headway towards my future goals.

“I’m excited about heading to Sydney for the grand final and look forward to seeing what other talent has come out of Australia.”
