A 25-YEAR-OLD man from Woodvale has been charged after police found a suspicious package in his car during a booze bus stop.

The man’s car was searched after he returned a positive test for drugs about 2.20pm on Hepburn Avenue near Karuah Way.

Police found what they allege was a homemade explosive device on the back seat of the car. The area was cordoned off from the public while the Bomb Response Unit removed the item.

The man has been charged with making or possession of explosives under suspicious circumstances and was scheduled to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court last weekend.
