A Kingsley woman won $1 million in Monday’s draw, which comes after a winning ticket worth more than $200,000 was sold in January.

Owner Dave Dale-Thompson said it was the biggest win the newsagency had seen in six years and was happy it had gone to a local resident. It’s good to know the woman personally; she’s one of our regular customers,” he said.

Manager Gemma Ronzitti checked the woman’s ticket manually on Tuesday morning.

“I’ve never told someone that they’d won so it was exciting for me too,” she said.

“She was so shocked; she didn’t think she’d won.”

The winner said she was surprised to see the successful numbers on the first line of the ticket.

“It was so hard to believe, I cried the whole way home,” she said.

“I rang my son to tell him and he left work to come check on me because he thought I must have bumped my head.”

She said the money would be shared with close family and used towards home loans for her children and a few holidays.
