ELECTRIC vehicle owners will be able to charge their cars for free at Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City.

Synergy has launched two charging stations in partnership with centre manager Lendlease.

The stations are in the Myer carpark and near Grand Cinemas.

They can each power up to two vehicles at a time.

Synergy chief executive Jason Waters said charging stations highlighted Synergy’s commitment to an electric vehicle framework for WA.

“The roll out of these charging stations is another demonstration of Synergy’s commitment to collaborating with innovative partners and the transition towards electric vehicles in WA.” he said.

“I believe the transition to electric vehicles represents a great opportunity for the state, and will offer a number of benefits to the WA economy, the environment and the consumer; from a reduction in fuel and running costs, to lower greenhouse gas emissions.”

Lakeside centre Manager Gemma Hannigan said the stations were about meeting the needs of its customers now and into the future.

“We are excited to support innovative advancements in transport technology,” she said.

“Being able to shop while charging your car is a highly convenient shopping experience for our customers.”
