LIGHTNING struck at Percy Doyle Reserve in Duncraig last night while children played tee-ball nearby.

A parent called 6PR this morning to report that the lightning struck water piping after 6pm, causing water to flow from the top oval.

The caller also said he was surprised that more parents didn’t take their children from the park when the stormy weather moved in.

The City of Joondalup said the lightning struck at the football oval next to Warwick Road.

“Some damage has been caused to the oval’s irrigation system and the City is investigating the extent of the damage,” Mayor Albert Jacob said.
