POLICE have arrested a 27-year-old Noranda man following a high-speed chase through Padbury last night.
Officers attempted to stop a green Holden Commodore on Warburton Avenue around 10.30pm.
The driver allegedly failed to stop and drove reckless through various streets before heading northbound on the Mitchell Freeway.
He allegedly stopped his car in the emergency lane approximately 100m south of the Whitfords Avenue exit and ran from the vehicle through thick scrub on the side of the freeway.
The man was arrested a short time later on Ninnis Place North and police discovered a handgun during a search of his car.
Police have charged the man with possessing a firearm with circumstances of aggravation, driving a vehicle with forged, replica or false plates, having no authority to drive, failure to comply with a direction to stop and reckless driving to escape police pursuit.
He will appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on June 29.
