Man charged over alleged armed robbery of Beldon bottle shop

A MAN has been charged with armed robbery after an investigation into an incident at a liquor store in Beldon on Friday night.

About 11pm, a man allegedly armed with a gun entered the store, which is on the corner of Gunter Grove and Marmion Avenue.

He allegedly threatened staff with the weapon and demanded cash, as well as threatening customers in the shop during the robbery.

He fled with a sum of cash.

Police, with tactical response group officers, executed a search warrant at a home in Littorina Avenue in Heathridge yesterday.

During the search, police apprehended the man and seized a sawn-off rifle.

A 35-year-old man from Heathridge has been charged with armed robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited drug and possessing drug paraphernalia.

He is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court today.
