Man dies in Hillarys boating tragedy

A MAN has died after a dinghy flipped at Hillarys Boat Harbour Sunday morning. 

About 7.30am on May 26, the WA Police Force was alerted to an incident near the the harbour entrance in which a dinghy had flipped.

A police spokesman said two men, both believed to be aged in their 40s, were on the dinghy at the time of the incident.

“Water Police and other emergency response vessels responded to the incident,” he said.

“One of the men survived the incident, and swam to shore. 

“The second man was located deceased and has been recovered from the water.

“St John Ambulance attended the scene and provided medical assistance to the survivor.

“The dinghy has been recovered from the water.

“A report will be prepared for the Coroner.”
