Trains cancelled on Joondalup line after ‘incident’

UPDATE, 1.30pm: Trains have resumed running between Whitfords and Stirling stations.

UPDATE: Transperth says a man has died in an apparent accident at Greenwood Station.

“He was riding a motorised bicycle, appeared to lose control on the platform and fell into the path of an oncoming train,” the statement said.

“The incident has been reported to the Office of Rail Safety and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.

“The Public Transport Authority will also carry out its own investigation.”

EARLIER: Trains were cancelled on the Joondalup line between Whitfords and Stirling stations because of an incident.

Transperth is running train replacement buses between the two stations but services are still available from Butler and Whitfords and Stirling to Perth stations.

It advised passengers to allow extra travelling time.

It follows an incident on the Mandurah line Wednesday evening, which caused trains to be cancelled between Elizabeth Quay and Cockburn stations.
