A FISHERMAN was rescued late last night after his boat overturned two miles off Perth.

About 10.30pm last night, the Water Police Co-ordination Centre was advised by the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Canberra of an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) activation.

The EPIRB was registered and GPS enabled, giving an approximate position two nautical miles west of Ocean Reef Marina.

A Water Police vessel and police helicopter were sent to search, and investigations confirmed the boat’s owner had been out fishing.

Polair 61 located an overturned vessel, with the man sitting on the bow.

The Water Police vessel arrived shortly after and rescued the man, who was taken by ambulance to Joondalup Health Campus.

The boat was recovered by a volunteer marine rescue vessel.
