Man rescued after boat capsizes

Staff WriterJoondalup Times

A FISHERMAN was rescued late last night after his boat overturned two miles off Perth.

About 10.30pm last night, the Water Police Co-ordination Centre was advised by the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Canberra of an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) activation.

The EPIRB was registered and GPS enabled, giving an approximate position two nautical miles west of Ocean Reef Marina.

A Water Police vessel and police helicopter were sent to search, and investigations confirmed the boat’s owner had been out fishing.
