PARALYMPIAN Kurt Fearnley was in Edgewater on Tuesday for International Day of People with Disability.

The visit to Mater Dei College was in recognition of the school’s celebrations during Disability Awareness Week in November, which included a range of activities promoting awareness, , diversity and inclusion.

“Kurt is an example to all of us that no obstacle, ailment, or disability should stop us from achieving our dreams,” head of learning support Iona Scott said.

Mr Fearnley’s visit also coincided with ABC Me attending the school for a pre-screening of the short film Rocky and Me filmed by Year 7 student Emily Prior.

This was part of an ABC Me pilot production called DisRupted, which called on content makers with a disability to produce a scripted drama, comedy or factual story about the experience of a person with a disability living in Australia.
